Bev Krueger, Murfreesboro Self Storage - Application Bev currently serves as the Legislative Committee Chair on the TNSSA Board. She has helped us walk through several legislative changes during her time of service on the Board. She is currently the director of Sum Effect Investments, a real estate investment group specializing in commercial real estate investments and operations. She previously worked 30+ years at the University of Central Florida, the 2nd largest universities in the US with over $1B in assets. Areas of responsibilities included: computer systems, financial reporting, treasury, accounts payable, accounts receivable, merchant services and tax. She holds a BBA from Western Michigan University and a MBA from the University of Central Florida. In addition, she has earned several real estate certifications, including Certified Self Storage Manager (CSSM) and Certified Housing Provider (CHP). Bev has been an active member of her church for many years and has worked in a variety of ministries including: a) director of Financial Peace University; teaching money management and investing to adults; b) teaching and coordinating various children’s ministries; c) operating video and technical equipment; and d) various volunteer positions at Grace Church Nashville. In addition, Bev holds a position on the board of Real Estate Investors of Nashville (REIN) and is a former president.
Clay Powers, Stor-Alot Self Storage - Application Clay currently serves in the Legislative Committee on the TNSSA Board. Clay is an owner, operator and developer of self-storage for over 20 years. His construction background gives him experience in maximizing a site's useable space while lowering construction costs. "Sometimes the most challenging sites can also produce the most square footage of storage space"
Mike Crews, Express Storage - Application Mike is an entrepreneur in self storage starting Express Self Storage in 2006.He has been a commercial and residential real estate investor and developer for over 30 years. Mike earned his Bachelors degree in Business Management at MTSU and has completed coursework in real estate appraisal. He has utilized his leadership and organizational skills as President of the Tennessee/Kentucky Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association and President of the Jackson Morning Rotary Club.
Betsi Jackson, A+ Storage - Application Betsi has been in the storage industry since 2009. Starting as a Property Manager, she effectively managed her property so that it met a standard of excellence that set A+ Storage apart from all others not only in her demographic market but also in the industry as a whole. In December of 2013, at an annual Performance Award Ceremony, Betsi was named the 2013 A+ Storage Manager of the Year for her hard work and dedication. With 12 locations, this award is sought after strongly within the company. In February, The Tennessee Self Storage Association selected Betsi as The 2013 TNSSA Manager of The Year. Betsi has shown a passion and a desire to grow in this industry and steps up to every challenge presented to her. She was named the 2015 A+ Storage Manager of the Year. She is the first person in the company to win this award twice. Since 2021, Betsi has served as Sr. Director of Operations where she is responsible for providing support across all facets of operations for A+ Storage. She oversees multiple facilities. By providing training and ongoing support, Betsi has developed a high-performing, award winning team of Managers. | VENDOR APPLICANTS Chris Johnson, UHaul - Application Chris currently serves as the Membership Committee Chair on the TNSSA Board. He has been a supportive and dedicated member of the association for over a decade. He has been with the U-Haul company for over 41 years as an Area Field Manager for the U-Haul Company of Knoxville. He has been a member of the TNSSA almost since the creation and a board member/Past President for over the past 10 years. He is proud to say that he has not missed a TNSSA meeting in close to 15 years. That is how much this organization means to him. The luncheons and business seminars are always informational and meeting the new members and seeing the current members during each luncheon event is an inspiration.
Trey Kirby, NAI Nashville - Application Trey has served TNSSA faithfully since 2016. He is a native of Middle Tennessee specializing in self storage investment properties, modeling investment pro formas, for short term and long term hold strategies. Trey has also represented several tenants with Office and Retail lease acquisitions. Trey has built relationships with owners and investors in Middle Tennessee, Eastern Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, and Northern Alabama. Trey helped launch a Sunbelt Rentals location in Roanoke VA. The location became one of the fastest growing stores in company history. Trey then returned to his native Middle Tennessee to join a family run software company. The company specialized in Emergency Notification software and was sold in 2006. In 2007, Trey embarked on his current real estate career. Trey has served as Board Presidents for the Following organizations: Ultimate Goal Ministries 207-2009 Middle TN CCIM - 2018 TNNSSA - 2022 Education A Graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Trey was a 4 year lettermen in soccer and acquired a degree in History and English.
Grace Totty, Absolute Storage Management - Application Grace currently serves as the Website/Communications Committee Chair on the TNSSA Board. She is the Vice President of Marketing and Sales with Absolute Storage Management (Absolute), responsible for leading the marketing team and vendors to maximize function and performance for Absolute’s managed properties. Grace has over ten years of storage experience, starting in operations and working closely with Absolute’s founders. She is a frequent speaker at national trade shows and state shows and enjoys connecting with individuals in the storage industry. As a member of the Senior Leadership team at Absolute, and is an active member of the Young Leader’s Group and the SSA’s Women’s Counsel. Grace holds a degree in Business Management from The University of Memphis.
Jonathan (JR) Rochester, Universal Storage Group - Application Jonathan (JR) is well-versed in communications and marketing, organizational development, logistical planning, process development, and strategic operations. He has managed a self-storage property for three years with over 90% occupancy and less than 10% delinquency. JR served in the United States Army and United States Army Reserve for 12 years. He holds a double BS in public relations and interpersonal and organizational communication from East Carolina University. JR now serves as Universal Storage Group's Sourcing Manager on the Sales Team, seeking opportunities for acquisitions.
Randy is currently working as a Solutions Specialist for Access Control Technologies based out of Salisbury, NC. Prior to joining Access Control Technologies, he spent 19 years with Sealed Air Corporation and worked with Monster Self-Storage which was later purchased by Prime Self-Storage. While working for Monster Self-Storage/Prime Self-Storage as an Assistant Manager. He oversaw the day-to-day operations, rentals of storage units, U-Haul reservations, retail sales, and facility maintenance. Randy joined Access Control Technologies in 2018 and his current responsibilities include: assisting storage facilities in selecting security gates, access control systems and camera systems. As an active member of the South Carolina Self-Storage Association, the Georgia Self-Storage Association, North Carolina Self-Storage Association and the National Self-Storage Association, he attends the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Events and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Self-Storage Association. Randy resides in Moore, SC where he spends his free time with his two children, their dogs and helping coach his son’s baseball team.
Leann Kass, Janus International - Application Leann Kass is a Sales Representative for Noke Smart Entry in the Southeast Region. She came to Janus International with over 10 years of sales organization experience including expertise in acquisitions, partnerships, operations, and training and development. During her past 2 years at Janus, she has gained the knowledge, experience and passion for the self-storage community and looks forward to helping all self-storage owners change the way technology is applied and adapted within the industry. |

Online voting will be held Monday, October 30th through 11:59 pm on Monday, Nov 13th Results of the election will be announced at the 4th Quarter Luncheon in Chattanooga on November 14th, 2023. All elected members of the Board of Directors serve a two year term. All members of the Board of Directors are expected to attend Board meetings; in the event that a board member is absent for more than three (3) consecutive board meetings, his or her position may be considered vacant.
